About Us VPIC is brought to you by the Land Use Education and Training Collaborative working together to coordinate and improve the delivery of land use education and training for local land use officials in Vermont. Collaborative Steering Committee
ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED IN CREATING VPIC Center for Rural Studies (CRS) at the University of Vermont CRS serves as the US. Census Bureau's Vermont State Data Center and, among other activities, hosts the Vermont Indicators Online and a variety of data resources at its web site. Services include survey research, exploration into e-government and e-commerce issues, organizational leadership and collaboration training, public policy and program evaluation, and community economic, demographic and social indicator profiling in domestic and international contexts. CRS provides web hosting, maintenance and technical support for VPIC, thanks to funding from USDA CSREES with assistance from Vermont's U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy. Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) manages, maintains and monitors the Vermont State roads, airports and railways, with the vision of preserving and enhancing an integrated transportation system that supports Vermont's quality of life and economic well-being. Vermont Association of Planning
and Development Agencies (VAPDA) VAPDA, the organization representing Vermont's 11 regional planning commissions, is devoted to sound planning principles that will enhance the quality of life for Vermont residents. Through a combination of environmental and economic planning strategies, VAPDA fosters a community environment that provides for the needs of both residents and our natural surroundings, today and for generations to come. Vermont Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) DHCA assists with guiding planning and development at the local, regional and state levels to meet statewide land use goals. DHCA staffs the Education and Training Collaborative and maintains content on the VPIC website. Smart Growth Vermont The mission of Smart Growth Vermont, a non-profit organization, is to preserve Vermont's unique working landscape and quality of life while encouraging economic vitality in community centers. Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) Membership organization comprised of all of Vermont's 246 Cities and Towns with a mission to serve and strengthen Vermont local government. The League accomplishes this mission by providing legislative representation, legal advice and educational opportunities, and insurance services to its members. Vermont Planners Association (VPA) VPA is a on-profit organization representing citizen and professional planners, landscape architects, housing and economic development specialists, developers, and engineering consultants from throughout the state. VPA is committed to advancing the art and science of planning. Vermont Secretary of State's Office The Office Of The Secretary of State supports Vermont's municipalities by providing local officials and members of the public with information, assistance, and educational materials related to municipal law and practice and the requirements of Vermont's open government laws.
