Municipal Delegation for Wastewater and Potable Water Supply System Permits
- Beginning July 1, 2007, every parcel of land will come under the authority of the
State's on-site wastewater & potable water supply system program. As a result of this change, a
state permit will be needed for most repairs, upgrades, and new construction of on-site wastewater
treatment and disposal facilities, on-site potable water supplies, and connections to municipal water
distribution and wastewater collection systems. Municipalities may elect to issue these State permits in their communities. To
take on this responsibility, a municipality must request and receive delegation of the State permit
program.

Environmental Protection Agency Information - for on-site and decentralized wastewater disposal systems
Organizations:
Wastewater Management Division - of the Agency of Natural Resources,
Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC), issues permits for subdivisions, sludge management, and discharges to the
waters of the state. Permits are issued from the central office in Waterbury and from five offices around the state.
